Recycling IT back into the Community

Better tech. Stronger community.

We refurbish and recycle IT equipment, giving it a second life in schools, charities and across our community.

Refurbish

We restore quality IT equipment.

Reuse

We donate to schools, charities and the local community.

Reduce

We keep tech out of landfill and support a greener future.

Our mission

Recycling IT back into the Community

Community IT collects unwanted technology, securely processes it, refurbishes what can be reused, and helps useful equipment find a second life with schools, charities, community groups and local people.

  • Secure process
  • Practical reuse
  • Responsible recycling

How it works

How it works

We provide a practical route for unwanted IT equipment, from collection and secure processing through to reuse, donation, resale, parts recovery or responsible recycling.

Not every device can be donated, and not every item can be refurbished. Some equipment may be sold to help fund the CIC’s running costs and future community work. This helps keep the project sustainable.

Our story

Where the idea began

Community IT grew from Microsmith Electronics supporting Usk Mouth Rotary with its Laptops 4 Home Learning project during the pandemic. Refurbishing donated laptops for pupils showed how much useful technology was sitting unused, and how much difference it could make when placed back into the community.
